Ferries run throughout the West Cost of Scotland to all the Islands by Caledonian MacBrayne. A new service between Troon and Campbeltown started in May 2006 (see link below).

Kennacraig, a few miles past the town of Tarbert in Kintyre is the terminal for ferries to Islay and Colonsay. Arran can be accessed by the ferry from Claonaig, south of Tarbert, to Lochranza. The village of Tayinloan lies about halfway up the west coast of Kintyre and it is from here that you can get a ferry to the island of Gigha.

From Oban further along the West Coast you can travel to the Southern Hebrides - Gateway to the Islands.
