New Plans for Campbeltown

New plans that could change the face and future prospects of Campbeltown have now been unveiled. The imaginative and ambitious proposal to revitalise Campbeltown town centre and waterfront is nearing completion for its submission to Argyll and Bute Council.

The council has allocated £10 million of prudential borrowing towards the best project out of the five main coastal towns in Argyll and Bute.

There are three parts to the proposal; the extension of the Townscape Heritage Initiative which will rejuvenate poor and abandoned buildings in the town centre, a redevelopment of industrial units in Kinloch Road to provide a mixture of housing, community, office and retail opportunities and the realignment of Kinloch Road to meet directly with Longrow at the Lochend Street junction. The third part of the development is the extension of the marina which will significantly improve berthing and facilities for visiting pleasure craft.
