Heritage Centre, Witchburn Road

Built in 1868 and designed by James Boucher of Glasgow the former Lorne Street Church is now the local Heritage Centre. The original striped stonework of the façade is possibly derived from the English idea of mixing stone and red brick. Because of this the building became known as the Tartan Kirk. The Heritage Centre is a treasure-trove of information, artifacts and exhibits, which depict many aspects of cultural, social, economic and industrial influences which have contributed to the development of the town.

Open: April-October Mon-Sat 11.30–4.30, Sun 1-5 Adults £2, Concession £1.50, Children £1, Pre-school free.
