Beinn Ghuilean (Hill of the Shoulders) -

The walk begins at Narrowfield close to Tomaig Cottages where you can follow the track through the fields or via the road that runs alongside Kilkerran cemetery. Follow the blue topped posts which waymark this route.

Crosshill loch which is the source of water for Springbank distillery is where you will see some exciting birdlife including Widgeon, Swans and Red Grouse. Hen Harriers, Peregrine Falcons, Ravens, Kestrels and Buzzards may be seen over Beinn Ghuilean. Bog asphodel and Orchids grow in the area as well. A climb through the wood produces a secular view over Campbeltown Loch, Davaar Island to the Isle of Arran and also Islay Jura and the Atlantic Ocean can be seen to the west.

The Black Loch - OS NR718186

Start at Narrowfield and follow the dirt road to the western end of Crosshill loch. Cross the stile and leave the road, following the line of drystone dyke uphill. Where the forestry plantation begins cross the dyke and continue to follow it until you reach a ford. Once across the ford, follow the east-west fence until you reach a gateway. Go through the opening and follow the uphill fence until you come to another gap go through it and head along the track, keep to the grassy ground in a south-easterly direction and you will come to the loch. The Black Loch used to power the corn-mill at Knocknaha.

Knockbay - OS NR718192

This walk is short but enjoyable. You may see Roe deer and Otters are occasionally seen in Kikerran Burn and around Crosshill Loch. Start at Knockbay road just before the gates of Kilkerran Cemetery, there is a gate at the farmhouse, close it behind you and continue along the dirt-track. Take the left fork of the grassy track, you will reach a stile. Cross the dam and walk left. At the mouth of the burn there are grassy areas which are good for picnicking.
